Canucks 4 Detroit 5 (OT)
The Christmas season has taken over my life with traveling and family, blogging was becoming a bit time consuming. Last night I got out back in my home town and everyone I was talking to was telling me that I was games behind on my blog... Needless to say it was pretty cool to here from all you who read and I will try to keep up.
Just a little note on the Detroit game because there was so much talk about how bad Luongo is.
Yes Luongo played had some bad goals and probably lost the two points and an important win for the team. The team played great and one of their leaders let them down. There's no way around it Luongo has to play better in big games like that and he knows it. The thing you have to keep in mind before jumping off the bandwagon is Luongo has been playing like a leader of this team in Decemeber. He has been one of the best goalies in the NHL right up with M. A-F. He is still 7-1-1 in December. He has made saves in recent games that have outright saved points for the Canucks. The St. Louis game, I think it was Backes, was robbed by Luongo late in the third that kept the score 2-1. Minutes later Tambellini scored and the game was over. In the Leafs game Luongo did the same thing.
All I'm saying is the "BENCH LUONGO, FIRE AV, PLAY SCHNEIDER AS THE #1" talk is silly and should be looked at as flat out ridiculous.
When the playoffs come around no one will remember this game against the Wings, they will remember how he performs in the playoffs. We need the goalie who can save the day when it counts, the goalie that played against the Leafs and Blues. If we get that Luongo come playoff time this team will win.
Luongo knows he needs to be this type of goalie and that he let the team down against the Wings. It's one game. He needs to move on as a player and we need to move on as fans.
Go Canucks.
