Canucks Vs Blue Jackets Post Game

Canucks 3 Jackets 2 (SO)

Again another late post game review. This schedule is bugging me, not playing one game on and one game off doesn't suite me well. I wonder how the players deal with it.

The game was simply a game dominated by Ryan Kesler. Everyone on both teams were trying to keep up to him. I did say I thought the 2nd line would be very important to the Canucks success last night and well Kesler himself made me right. I thought Samuelsson had a chance to get his game back on track against CBJ and although he got an assist, I can't really say he did what I thought he would do. His assist was a lucky bounce from his own zone, not really a strong play. However it can't be JUST Kesler doing the only thing right. The rest of his line must be doing something right so a little credit goes to Samuelsson and Tambellini for jumping on Kesler's back and joining the ride. I am impressed with the physical play I see from Tambellini on a night in night out basis. He is such a small guy however he manages to use his speed to get in on the forecheck and still not take a penalty.

The twins got on the score sheet in overtime, they are possibly the scarriest 4 on 3 threat in the NHL. Although they got on the score sheet it wasn't a very dominant performance by this line.

The defense played good overall as a unit and will need to continue growing as a unit. Props to Aaron Rome who is able to step in when the Canuck's need an extra D man and play at a level that is useful to the team. You never hear that he is complaining about ice time behind the scenes and he always plays hard when he's on the ice. Great 7th guy.

Luongo had a good game, made some key saves when needed and did enough to get the W. His game has been turning around lately. Not very many weak goals in recent weeks and if he can continue to improve and become more comfortable with his new style this team will start looking very comfortable in front of him.

Again Kesler stole the show and won the game for the Canucks. The rest of the team will need to step it up in the future, but man it's great to have a player like Kesler on the 2nd line.
