Canucks vs Flames, CBC, TEAM 1040, 7:00pm PST
First off again, sorry to everyone who has been checking in looking for updates. I've pretty much been living at the arena for the skate Canada event. There's only today and tomorrow left after that I will catch up with a big blog.
Tonights game couldn't come at a better time in my opinion. With the struggles the team has had recently a
game against a divisional rival that we have always had some hate for will probably do us good. The team has lacked a spark lately but I don't expect that against the Flames tonight.
I've heard a lot of complaining about having shirokov sit out tonight. I think it's a pretty good idea. Think of it this way, with shirokov in the lineup the canucks really have no big forward next to Glass that can fight in a chippy game. With him out, Volpatti slots in and we can make sure that the game doesn't get out of hand. I'd rather see Shirokov be eased in in good situations then to be forced to be the spark of the team. He's a good prospect but on a team in first place in the West he shouldn't ever be a savior.
As far as the rest of the team goes they all need to pick it up. I'd like to see more of what we saw from
Henrik last game. Seven shots and a beauty goal. If he starts shooting more like last year that line will add another dimension to their already very powerful line.
Raymond will be on the second line with kesler and samuelsson. He really needs to pick up his game. His speed is his best attribute and getting back to using it will help him out. A simple dump and chase game by the second line tonight could put a lot of pressure on Calgarys D.
Although the record has been a bit shaky lately Luongo still hasn't lost in regulation and his GAA and SV% have been great. The game against the sharks he played great and I look for him to continue his strong play.
The team owes their goalies a few extra goals and tonight would be a good time to start.
Like I said I shoul be able to catch up on everything come Monday.
Till then, enjoy the game tonight.
